Jeju-born singer-songwriter spent her early career performing under her real name, Oh Soyeon, before adopting the stage name ":DamDam" in 2022 to signal a shift toward calmer, more reflective music. The name itself comes from the Korean word meaning "calm" or "placid", chosen after she was moved by how Kim Kwangseok's voice could remain gentle while delivering deeply sad lyrics, and she wanted to carry that same quiet emotional weight in her own singing. Her first release under the new name was the 2022 single "You Left It Behind" and by many considered as a "new debut".

Since then she has built a catalog defined by self-written material and a willingness to move between acoustic warmth and alternative rock textures. She also appeared on Dingo's Rising Voice series and reached the Top 20 of the Riverside Song Festival New Challenge, where she released a remake single. Her first EP, 24Frame, arrived in December 2024 as a collaboration with production house FUTORE, with all five tracks written and composed by her and centered on the theme of time, framed through fairy-tale-like lyrics and a blend of acoustic and electronic arrangements.
