The group was formed through the SBS survival show "Universe League". When the show started, 9 contestants were given the status "Starter" as representing them as initial picks by the producers. Throughout the entire survival show they consistently maintained their status and were never demoted to "Bench" status, eventually all nine producer picks being selected to debut.
