The group had a significant pre-debut period characterized by a series of singles used to introduce the group, its members and their upcoming musical style. Some singles even promoted on Music programs as if the group had already debutted.

The working title for the group was NT9 until a fan voting selected NTX for the official debut name.

The group was supposed to debut earlier but due to the COVID-19 pandemic was postponed.
