RM started his career in music as an underground rapper known as "Runch Randa". His talent was spotted by rapper Sleepy, which eventually led him to Big Hit Entertainment in 2010. He was the first member of BTS and was instrumental in the group's early direction, originally conceived as a pure hip-hop group. As the leader and main rapper, he is the primary songwriter and producer for much of BTS's discography.
