Stella holds dual citizenship for Canada and South Korea. She immigrated to Canada around the age of four, where she grew up, and has dreamed of performing on stage since kindergarten.

After the COVID-19 pandemic, she returned to South Korea and settled in Busan, where she joined a K-Pop idol academy. After passing an in-house audition, she was scouted by a total of 32 agencies, including SM Entertainment, which she ultimately chose.

She trained at SM Entertainment for only about a year and a half before debuting with Hearts2Hearts.
