# Soridata

> Soridata is a repository of Korean Music data, metrics, and profiles focusing heavily on facts and official metrics, with no social features or trivia content.

Notes:

- **Index Page Scope:** The main index page features dynamic summary panels showcasing snippets across all site sections (top streaming, top sales, latest awards) and therefore has no Markdown (.md) equivalent. Only pages explicitly listed in this document provide .md endpoints.
- **Entity Definitions:** The site offers structured lists and searchable content covering thousands of entities. Within Soridata, an "Artist" refers to either a group/band or an individual soloist.
- **Bot Access & Verification:** The site uses a CAPTCHA for standard web traffic. If an automated agent encounters a 429 (Throttled) or CAPTCHA block, the visiting IP may not be on the WAF-managed access list. Major mainline LLM search crawlers are continuously verified and allowed.
- **Clean URL Structure:** Artist profiles, awards, streaming data, sales, and comparison pages use clean, friendly URLs rather than numeric database IDs (e.g., `https://soridata.com/artists/bts.html`).
- **Data Accessibility:** There is no dedicated REST API, but the full database repository is freely accessible via structured Markdown web endpoints.
- **Data Attribution:** Artist metadata is aggregated from Wikipedia, Namu.wiki, and Melon. View and like metrics source from YouTube; digital streaming and physical sales source from Circle Chart (`https://circlechart.kr`); Perfect All-Kill (PAK) data sources from iChart (`https://www.ichart.kr`); global metrics source from the Billboard Global 200 (`https://www.billboard.com/charts/billboard-global-200`); Music Show win records come from official broadcasting channels; and annual industry awards source from official ceremony listings and Wikipedia.
- **Localization Routing:** Web content is offered in four languages: English (default), Portuguese (BR), Japanese, and Korean. Access localized HTML pages by prepending language prefixes: `/pt/`, `/jp/`, and `/ko/` (e.g., `https://soridata.com/pt/index.html`). Language selection is maintained in the session for subsequent paths; prepend `/en/` to return to English.
- **Language Policy:** To maintain single-source data integrity, all `.md` endpoints across Soridata are provided exclusively in English. LLM agents can process and translate this structured data into any target language natively. Localized URL paths (`/pt/`, `/jp/`, `/ko/`) serve the same English `.md` files as their root counterparts.

## Compare Artists

> This feature pits two artists and shows statistics for each artist on a table format. The HTML/CSS version includes graphics and visual representations, while the .md version only contains the raw data.

- **URL Construction Pattern:** Compare two artists using the friendly URL of each artist in the path format `https://soridata.com/compare/{artist1-friendly-url}/{artist2-friendly-url}` or `https://soridata.com/compare/{artist1-friendly-url}/{artist2-friendly-url}.md`
- **Single Artist URLs:** Supplying a single artist friendly URL like `https://soridata.com/compare/{artist1-friendly-url}` will offer a page with one artist pre-selected and statistics shown.

- **Specific Award URL Construction:** Filter by a single ceremony using its acronym in the path: `https://soridata.com/yearlyawards/{acronym}` (HTML) or `https://soridata.com/yearlyawards/{acronym}.md` (Markdown).  
	*Supported acronyms:* `KMA`, `GD`, `MMA`, `MAMA`, `SMA`.
- **Specific Year URL Construction:** For a listing of all awards of one specific year, use the query ?year on the root path, like `https://soridata.com/yearlyawards/?year=2020`. For the markdown version use index.md like `https://soridata.com/yearlyawards/index.md?year=2020`
- **Specific Award and Year URL Construction:** For a listing of all awards of a specific ceremony at a specific year, just use the format `https://soridata.com/yearlyawards/{ceremony-acronym}?year={year}`. For the markdown version use the .md extension on the acronym like `https://soridata.com/yearlyawards/{ceremony-acronym}.md?year={year}`
- While there is no friendly URL way to access all awards of an artist, it is accessible using the internal artist id (known as soridata id, avaliable at the artist profile page) in the format `https://soridata.com/yearlyawards/?id={artist-id}`. Future versions might make this easier. There is no markdown version for this page.

## Site terms, methods and transparency

- [Data Handling Transparency](https://soridata.com/transparency.html) offers a page explaining how the site calculates different metrics and scores (when not a direct source), as well as disclaimers and an accountability for donations and server costs. This is a straight up text page and thus requires no .md version.
