한 3rd Line Butterfly
3rd Line Butterfly (3호선 버터플라이) is a South Korean Co-ed Group. They consist of 4 members: Kim Namyoon, Nam Sangah, Seo Hyunjung and Sung Kiwan.
Emerging as one of the seminal bands of the Korean indie movement that established itself in the clubs of Hongdae. The original lineup centered on the collaboration between vocalist and poet Nam Sangah and guitarist Sung Kiwan, creating a sonic identity that fused alternative rock, dream pop, and noise rock.
During the early 2000s, the group gained prominence not only for their atmospheric music but also for their participation in the soundtrack of the cult drama "Ruler of Your Own World", which helped bring the band's underground sound to a wider audience. The group's history is marked by several lineup changes and long creative hiatuses, during which members explored literary and experimental projects. Despite operating outside the commercial idol system, they solidified themselves as a pillar of Korean music criticism, culminating in major recognition with the release of the album "Dreamtalk in 2012.
Following the departure of iconic vocalist Nam Sangah in 2017 (who moved to France with her husband) and the subsequent restructuring of the group, 3rd Line Butterfly continues to be one of the most resilient and artistically influential bands in South Korea's independent scene.
