한 Members of NiziU

NiziU (니쥬) is a Global Girl Group that debuted in 2020. They consist of 9 members: Mako, Ayaka, Maya, Mayuka, Miihi, Nina, Riku, Rima and Rio.

Formed through a joint venture between "JYP Entertainment" and "Sony Music Entertainment Japan", NiziU was created via the reality survival project "Nizi Project". Designed to bridge K-pop production methodology with the Japanese music industry, the candidates underwent a multi-stage audition and training system across Tokyo and Seoul, spending about a year in South Korea before debut.

Each member navigated rigorous evaluation rounds testing vocal stability, dance precision, and character: Mako demonstrated exceptional discipline and leadership as a veteran trainee; Rio stood out for her extensive background in hip-hop dance; Maya brought expressive theatricality from her former idol training; Riku excelled with rapid vocal progression; Ayaka impressed evaluators with her steady growth and charm; Mayuka earned unanimous praise for her dramatic performance jump during group evaluations; Rima showcased sharp bilingual rap skills and songwriting rhythm; Miihi captivated judges with her emotional vocal delivery; and Nina delivered powerful high notes with a wide vocal range.

During their intensive pre-debut training period in South Korea, the group focused on building synchronized choreography and group cohesion under JYP's established training pipeline. Sharing rigorous daily practice sessions and language lessons, the trainees forged a unified identity centered on bright energy, sincerity, and synchronized stage execution. Their pre-debut release, which highlighted their fresh aesthetic and signature choreography, achieved immediate viral and chart success across Japan, laying a solid foundation for their formal debut. This structured preparation allowed NiziU to quickly emerge as a major cultural phenomenon in Japan and South Korea, pioneering localized global idol models.

During the early Music Videos, JYP himself made cameo appearances in some of their videos to highlight their connection to his company and South Korea.
