한 Blackpink
Blackpink (블랙핑크) is a South Korean Girl Group that debuted in 2016. They consist of 4 members: Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa and Rosé.
They hold the 12th most Music Show Awards among all artists in Korea. They are the 14th most streamed artist in Korea.
The group reached significant global recognition slightly after "As If It's Your Last," when its music video made a brief appearance in the DCEU's "Justice League", playing on Barry Allen's (The Flash) monitors in his apartment. The actor said it was at his request, as he was a huge fan.
Their subsequent releases were massive international hits, with "Ddu-Du Ddu-Du", "Kill This Love", and "How You Like That" each breaking YouTube records for the most-viewed MV in the first 24 hours at the time.
They were also consistent chart-toppers in Korea and had pioneering live performances not only in Korea but also around the world: They were the first K-Pop Girl Group to perform at Coachella (2019).
Since 2024, YG no longer has individual contracts with each member, maintaining only a group contract. Both YG and the members have since been focusing on other activities. YG moved on to try and make their "Blackpink"-like group "Babymonster" a hit (which mostly failed), while Blackpink members achieved great success with solo activities.
