한 Wendy

Wendy (손승완) is a South Korean Female Soloist and Idol who debuted solo in 2021. She started in group Red Velvet.

Born in Seoul, she moved to Canada in 2005. She also attended a private boarding school in Minnesota, USA. During high school, she was the main soprano of the school choir and even took solo parts, winning Vocalist of the Year and Musician of the Year awards in her school for two consecutive years.

Before being accepted by SM Ent., Wendy auditioned at a Cube Ent. Global audition in 2011. Wendy was part of SM Rookies before debuting with Red Velvet in 2014.

On December 25th, 2019, Wendy suffered severe injuries from a stage accident during rehearsals for the SBS Gayo Daejeon, falling about 3.2m in darkness when a faulty lift was left in the wrong position. She fractured her pelvis, wrist, and cheekbone. Despite being initially treated as an outpatient, Wendy was hospitalized on January 23 (almost a month after the accident), where she remained until February 28th. Meanwhile, Red Velvet promoted without her, while SBS tried to escape the blame but, especially after Wendy was hospitalized, took matters more seriously. It is unknown if or how SBS ever offered compensation for the event to either Wendy or SM.

Wendy took about a year to rehabilitate from her injuries, returning to activities only in January 2021.

In 2025, Wendy departed SM when, instead of renewing her contract, she joined ASND Ent. However, she is still with Red Velvet through a group contract under SM Ent.
