Mamamoo (마마무) is a South Korean Girl Group that debuted in 2014. They consist of 4 members: Solar, Hwasa, Moonbyul and WheeIn.
They have 15 songs among the most popular in Korea.
Their debut was highly anticipated and considered one of the best K-pop debuts of 2014 by critics, setting them apart from typical idol groups. Even before their official debut, MAMAMOO was active with several pre-debut collaborations with established artists, showcasing their vocal prowess and unique sound. This included tracks like 'Don't Be Happy' with Bumkey and 'Peppermint Chocolate' with K.Will.
The group rose to extreme success by actively participating in multiple survival shows and Immortal Songs episodes, creating a solid image of truly talented singers. Every member had successful solo debuts.
The group's contract was slated to terminate at the end of 2022, but that was postponed to the end of 2023. Yet, no official announcement was made then.
At present, Moonbyul and Solar remain with RBW as MAMAMOO+, while Wheein and Hwasa have left the company with the termination of their exclusive contracts, though all members have indicated continued participation in group activities.
