Jessica, born in California, developed a passion for singing during her childhood. Her K-pop journey began when she was scouted by SM Entertainment in Korea in 2000 while on vacation with her sister, Krystal. She trained for over seven years, an extensive period during which she refined her distinct vocal color.

As a main vocalist in Girls' Generation, Jessica was known for her unique voice and her "Ice Princess" image. In 2014, she departed from the group due to conflicts regarding her growing personal business ventures, specifically her fashion brand Blanc & Eclare, and her commitments to the group's schedule, which were found lackluster enough to be considered a breach of contract.

After her departure, Jessica continued her solo singing career, expanded her fashion brand, and also ventured into writing, publishing books.
