한 Twice

Twice (트와이스) is a South Korean Girl Group that debuted in 2015. They consist of 9 members: Jihyo, Chaeyoung, Dahyun, Jeongyeon, Mina, Momo, Nayeon, Sana and Tzuyu.

They hold the 2nd most Music Show Awards among all artists in Korea. They are the 15th most streamed artist in Korea.

JYP Entertainment initially planned to debut a new girl group around 2014, with a tentative lineup known as 6MIX. This group included future TWICE members Nayeon, Jeongyeon, and Jihyo, but their debut plans were ultimately canceled when some members departed the company.

In 2015 JYP Entertainment announced that the final lineup for their next girl group would be determined through "Sixteen", a reality survival show airing on Mnet. The show featured 16 trainees competing for a spot in the group, which was initially envisioned to have seven members. The competition showcased the trainees' diverse talents in singing, rapping, and dancing, along with their charisma. At the show's finale in July 2015, Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, and Chaeyoung were selected as the initial seven members.

However, J.Y. Park made a last-minute decision to expand the group to nine members, adding Tzuyu, who was a fan favorite from the show's audience vote, and Momo, who had previously been eliminated but was brought back by Park due to her exceptional performance skills. This decision was met with some controversy at the time about the fairness and transparency of the show.

The group's name, TWICE, was chosen by J.Y. Park, signifying his aim for the group to "touch people's hearts twice: once through the ears, and once again through the eyes."
