K-Pop department of Howon University debuts students as artists
Now you can get a major in Korean-Pop music at the Howon university, at Gunsan.
With the K-Pop department, students get not only history and culture from Korea, but also are trainees under big names of the industry, many who graduated in other majors in the University, including choreographers, lyricists, vocal coaches and even with current or past Idols. For some students, graduation also means debuting on the very own Howon University Girl or Boy group. In 2021, "Azer" debuted with 7 students as a complete Idol-group, with Music Video, Music release on most platforms, and even promotions. While the group is not permanent, since each semester a new group of students should graduate, it is a very big push for the student/artists that are just beginning.
Each semester, a new group, which will receive a "sub-group" naming, will debut. The second semester saw "Azer-Blossom" debut.
The first boy-group graduated only on the second graduation semester, with group "Kairos" (which should follow the same naming approach for future graduations)
2025 Edit: As of 2025, there are several Universities with a K-Pop bachelor department
