FIFTY FIFTY
FIFTY FIFTY (피프티피프티) is a South Korean Girl Group that debuted in 2022. They consist of 5 members: Keena, Athena, Chanelle Moon, Hana and Yewon.
They have 1 songs among the most popular in Korea.
The group is know for its highly publicized legal dispute between the group and their agency, Attrakt, that began in mid-2023. The core of the conflict centered on contract termination lawsuits filed by the four original members, alleging a lack of transparency in financial statements and issues with health management (namely, lack of support for Aran's health issues during the time).
At the heart of the dispute was The Givers, an external production company led by SIAHN (Ahn Sung-il), which had been contracted by Attrakt to oversee Fifty Fifty's music production and management. Evidence presented during the legal proceedings suggested that The Givers had allegedly attempted to poach the members from Attrakt, a practice known as "tampering." This included accusations that The Givers had approached major labels like Warner Music Korea, proposing a buyout of the group's copyright and attempting to directly sign the members. Attrakt CEO J.J. Jeon (Jeon Hongjoon) publicly accused The Givers of orchestrating the dispute.
As the legal battle unfolded and more details emerged, including call recordings and contractual documents, public and media sentiment began to shift. The initial sympathy for the members waned as it became apparent that The Givers had played a significant role in misleading the members and instigating the lawsuit against their own agency. It also emerged that Aran's health issues were not an injury from training but a pre-existing health condition, and Attrakt had given extra time and resources for her recovery contrary to the lawsuit statements.
Keena, one of the original members, eventually recognized the precariousness of their position and the alleged manipulation by The Givers. Her realization was reportedly influenced by her direct communication with CEO Jeon and the discovery that her signature had been falsified on certain documents related to the dispute. This led her to withdraw her lawsuit against Attrakt in October 2023 and return to the agency. Her decision was a pivotal moment, as it suggested an acknowledgment of being misinformed or misled during the initial stages of the conflict.
Despite Keena's withdrawal and the mounting evidence against The Givers, the remaining three members (Saena, Sio, and Aran) continued their legal fight against Attrakt. They maintained their claims of contractual violations and a lack of trust in the agency, even as court rulings repeatedly sided with Attrakt. This prolonged legal battle, coupled with increasingly negative public perception and a lack of new music releases, severely impacted Fifty Fifty's career momentum and international opportunities. Ultimately, their contracts with Attrakt were terminated, and they were unable to continue as Fifty Fifty, while Keena remained the sole member under Attrakt and continued with a new lineup. The remaining members formed the group "Ablume"
In 2024, the group re-debuted with 4 new members, changing its fandom name from Hunnies to Tweny.
